Ostrich fern

Family Onocleaceae. The genus comprises 4 species distributed in the forests of the temperate zone of the Northern Hemisphere.
Ferns with long, creeping rhizomes and large, elongated fronds, sometimes up to 170 cm long, forming tufts. Sterile fronds once- or twice-pinnate, on short stipes. Fertile fronds brown, pinnate, with narrow pinnae whose margins are rolled under to the midrib. Sori located at the tips of the veins.
Two species are widespread in cultivation.
