The buttercup family. The genus contains about 50 species, mostly distributed in the Mediterranean region.
They occur mainly in high mountains on dry mountain slopes, in forests, and at forest edges.

Location: plant in sunny or slightly shaded sites with well-drained soil.
Propagation: by seed and vegetatively. Clumps are divided in spring and autumn, cuttings are taken in late spring. Sown seeds are kept at 16-20°C; if there is no germination within 3-4 weeks, stratify at -4 to +4°C for 2-4 weeks.
