Bird's-nest Asplenium
Asplenium nidus
The family Aspleniaceae. a very interesting fern that prefers being kept in shade and humid air.
Its elongated sword-shaped leaves, reaching up to 75 cm in length, are gathered into a widely open rosette, like a nest that, in natural conditions, accumulates moisture, plant debris and dead insects. Native range - the area from East Africa and the island of Madagascar to the Malay Archipelago and the Hawaiian Islands. Like other tropical ferns, asplenium can be cultivated indoors and in greenhouses, shading it from direct sunlight and misting it frequently.
