Family Araceae. Grows, in the shade of trees, among rocks, along shady gorges up to the mid-mountain belt of Central Asia, northwestern China and Iran.

Tuber globose, somewhat flattened. Leaf petiole with an expanded sheath at the base, slightly to twice as long as the blade. The leaf blade cordate-lanceolate or triangular. Flowering stem longer than the petiole, 50-60 cm, with reddish stripes. Spathe green, rolled into a narrow tube, almost twice as long as the spadix; its blade elongate-lanceolate, acuminate, green outside, whitish inside. The appendage of the spadix cylindrical, reddish, 1.5-2 times longer than the spadix. Fruits red. Flowers in spring.
