Fruit trees
Apricot Golden Rich (Golden Rich)
Armeniaca Golden Rich
The variety is an American selection, bred in 1971 in Washington. It is a medium-sized tree (4-5 m in height). The root system is shallow, with the main mass of roots located up to 60 cm deep in the soil. Leaves are typical for an apricot. Blooms abundantly, in mid-season. Flowers are large, white. Fruits are medium to large, 60-90 g (150 g), of a beautiful oval shape, slightly flattened on the sides. The skin is light orange, with a small (on 10-30% of the fruit surface) diffuse red blush. The flesh is juicy, firm, light orange, aromatic, sweet-and-sour, of high taste quality (4.7 points). The stone is medium or large and separates well from the flesh. Ripening time is early (end of July); fruits ripen a few days earlier than Orange Red. Fruits have good transportability, suitable for long-distance transport up to 4-5 days. It is distinguished by high winter hardiness and resistance to most diseases - moniliosis and coccomycosis. Considered the best commercial variety among early-ripening apricot cultivars and very popular in Western Europe.
Location: requires open sites protected from cold winds. Prefers light, well-drained fertile soils with a neutral or slightly acidic reaction.
Use: the best commercial early-ripening variety. Distinguished by good taste qualities, long shelf life, and suitable for long-distance transport.
