Winged sedge

Family Cyperaceae. Native to Eastern Europe, North Africa and the Caucasus. A common species of seasonally flooded meadows, oxbow lake shores and lakes. A perennial reaching 60 cm in height and forming tufts of erect or arching, thin but stiff leaves. Golden forms are exceptionally striking as garden aquatic plants (so far rather rare). 'Аurеа' has a yellow margin, 'Bowle's Golden' - yellow foliage with a thin green margin, 'Knighshaye's Form' - pure yellow foliage.
