Family Myrsinaceae. Native to tropical and subtropical countries of the world - China, Japan, etc. About 400 species occur in the wild. In cultivation the species Ardisia crenata (Ardizia crenata) has become widespread — it is an evergreen shrub or a small tree about one meter high.

Leaves are alternate, smooth, leathery, lanceolate in shape and with a crenate margin. Fragrant white flowers are gathered in corymb-like inflorescences. Fruits — numerous red berries about 1 cm in diameter — remain hanging on the branches for a very long time.



Temperature: In summer moderate, not below 15°C; in winter Ardisia prefers a cool temperature of about 10-12°C.

Light: Very bright location. Appreciates sunlight in the morning and at sunset. At midday in summer it requires shading.

Watering: In summer moderate, abundant on hot days. In winter moderate, depending on the room temperature.

Fertilizer: From May to October every two weeks Ardisia is fed with special complete fertilizers for houseplants. You can use "Raduga", "Ideal", "Ispolin" and others.

Air humidity: Ardisia responds well to regular spraying with warm water at any time of year.
