Flowers for the garden
Andromeda
Andromeda
Heath family. Andromeda is a low-growing shrub of the heath family.
It grows well indoors if given a cool winter rest (about 10–12 °C). It is considerably larger than heather, superficially resembling rosemary, but its leaves are darker. It blooms with sparse white or pinkish flowers resembling lily-of-the-valley. Andromeda is undemanding, can grow in partial shade, but the soil should not be allowed to dry out. Leaves will begin to dry out and fall. Andromeda is propagated by cuttings or by separating creeping shoots from the parent rhizome during transplanting.
