Back to catalogue

Family Vitaceae. Ампелопсис, or grape with variable leaves, belongs to the family Vitaceae.

Preferably grown as an ampelous (hanging) plant, but you can try to train it into a tree, since with age the base and the lower, old branches become woody. Pruning is done before wintering, and the next one in late spring, when cuttings root easily. Like all Vitaceae, it grows rapidly, requires diffused light, but will not grow in partial shade. In winter it prefers a drop in temperature at least to 12-15 degrees, and better to 5-7, then it will shed its leaves and rest, regain strength and please you the following season.

In summer ампелопсис requires copious watering, especially on hot, sunny days. In winter watering is significantly reduced, and at low temperatures it is not watered at all. It is fed during the active growth period every two weeks, but can be fed more often depending on the needs of the plant, its size and age. The variegated variety is considered the most beautiful.

Overall the plant is considered undemanding, except for the requirement of a cool winter rest. It does not tolerate frost.
