In this heuchera, only the leaves are attractive, forming a beautiful rosette 15–20 cm high. The undersides of the leaves may have a brownish-lilac tint. They are rounded-heart-shaped, on long petioles. Flower stalks are 50–60 cm tall. Flowers are yellow-green, gathered in a paniculate inflorescence. Blooms from June for 50–60 days. The species form of this heuchera is of interest only to collectors and breeders. In cultivation since 1656. Hybrids are in cultivation, for example:

Heuchera 'Green Spice' - a stunning novelty from New Zealand, where it was distributed under the name 'Eco Improved', and upon introduction to the USA and Europe the cultivar was renamed Green Spice; undoubtedly one of the best green heucheras with contrasting light silvery spots that remain equally fresh throughout the season; young leaves have a slight yellowish tinge to the green coloring and purplish-reddish shades around the veins, which disappear over time, the silvery spots intensify, and the green coloration becomes darker; the leaves tolerate frost well; a low-growing heuchera with fairly large leaves, it can be used both as a specimen planting and as groundcover.
