Siberian alder

Family Betulaceae. Russian Far East. Not listed in the floras of nature reserves. Grows along riverbanks, in the understory of coniferous forests. Light-loving mesophyte.

Shrub or small tree. A tree: at 12 years, height 8.3 m, trunk diameter 8 cm. Does not flower. Fully winter-hardy. 70% of summer cuttings root when treated with a 0.05% solution of IMK for 15 hours. Recommended for greening Moscow.
