Family Betulaceae. Russian Far East. Present in the Komsomolsky and Lazovsky Nature Reserves. Grows in valleys of mountain rivers, among stone-birch stands up to the upper limit of the forest. Light-loving mesohygrophyte.

Shrub or small tree. Tree, at 10 years height 6.0 m, trunk diameter 3.2 m. Fully winter-hardy. Summer cuttings, treated with a 0.05% solution of IMK for 16 hours, do not root. Requires further testing.
