Onion family. Name: translated from Greek means "beautiful face.

Description: beautiful tuberous-bulbous perennials. Leaves linear, flat, fleshy. The perianth yellow, with dark-brown or purple veins, fused for 1/4 or 1/3 of the length, wheel-shaped. Stamens 6 in one whorl at the throat of the perianth; their filaments with lateral appendages ending in a point. Anthers pendulous. The genus contains 2 species, both in California.
