Soft asphodel

Family Asphodelaceae. Distributed in the Mediterranean, western Turkey.

Perennial plant in the form of "tuft", leaves broad, linear, flat up to 20-30 cm long. In mid to late spring it blooms with white, sometimes slightly pinkish flowers 5-8 cm in diameter, with a brown central vein and greenish-white . Inflorescence - a branched panicle. Plant height up to 1 m, width up to 30 cm. This plant develops thick fleshy roots that store moisture and nutrients, helping it survive under severe drought conditions.
