Orange-red Ada (Ada aurantiaca Lindl.)
This plant is native to the central Andes of Colombia. Orchid of medium size with nearly conical pseudobulbs, a single linear leaf at the apex, and several green articulated leaves at the base of the pseudobulb. Not very long, arching flower stems emerge from the base of the pseudobulbs and bear 7-12 or more fiery-red flowers. It blooms from January to May; because several inflorescences appear at once rather than just one, flowering lasts 2-3 weeks.
