Family Ranunculaceae. In the wild it occurs in southern Siberia and in the mountains of Central Asia.

Tall aconite up to 200 cm high. Stems erect, thick, grooved; like the leaves, covered with long appressed hairs. Leaves large, five- to seven-lobed, lobes unevenly toothed, rhombic. Flowers dirty- or grayish-violet, gathered in large racemose inflorescences up to 50 cm long. Blooms in June–July. Fruit - aggregate of follicles.
