Family: maple. Native to the eastern North America.
Native to the eastern North America. On various soils, in lowlands (more often below 750 m above sea level, in the southern Appalachians up to 1650 m above sea level), usually along watercourses and in various forest communities.
Black maple reaches 40 m in height. Grows slowly. Does not flower. Winter hardiness is high (in severe winters partially damaged by frost).
