Shrub, 3.5–4 m tall and 2–3 m wide; asymmetrical rounded crown; fast-growing, 40–60 cm per year.

Flowers: Inconspicuous, dioecious.

Fruits: Not very attractive.

Leaves: Pinnate with an odd number of leaflets, 3–5 leaflets, light green with yellow margins, yellowish-green in autumn.

Root system: Shallow, slow-growing, relatively sensitive.

Requirements: Sun/partial shade — may freeze back in severe frosts; tolerant in urban conditions; choose a sheltered location.

Soils: Undemanding; fresh, neutral.

Note: Responds well to pruning.
