Family: Maple family. Native to western North America.

Found in moist habitats at altitudes of 1200-1800 m above sea level (to the south - up to 2700 m above sea level). In small canyons, along valleys, streams and rivers, on moist slopes. Sometimes together with coniferous species.

A shrub or tree up to 8 m tall. Glabrous maple, at 10 years up to 2 m in height, crown diameter 70-80 cm. Vegetation period from late April to early October. Growth rate of young plants is medium, in older ones - slow. Does not flower. Winter-hardy. Promising for introduction into cultivation. Absent in landscaping.
