Medium-sized tree or large shrub, 3-15 m tall, (5) 8-12 m wide; broad-conical or ovoid crown shape; average growth rate 25-40 cm per year; branches of some specimen trees may droop to the ground.
Flowers: Inconspicuous.
Fruits: Inconspicuous.
Leaves: Usually five-lobed, dark green; in autumn bright yellow, sometimes orange.
Root system: Deep, dense; insensitive, slow-growing.
Requirements: Avoid dense shade; adaptable; suitable for urban conditions, wind-resistant.
Soils: Does not like waterlogged, very acidic and clay substrates; relatively salt-tolerant.
Note: Responds well to pruning, suitable for creating hedges and walls.
