Family Saxifragaceae. Native to northern and northwestern China, Mongolia.
A tall perennial plant up to 150 cm high, with a broadly spreading habit. Leaves compound, twice- or thrice-pinnate, light green, wrinkled, with brown veins and petioles. Flowers small, lilac-pink, in narrow pyramidal inflorescences 30-40 cm long, with a pubescent axis. Blooms in July-August for 1-2 weeks. Produces fruit. In cultivation since 1902.
