Green barberry

Japan. This species was discovered in 1864 by the Russian botanist Maximovich and has since become widespread, as have similar species. A shrub reaching 2-3 m in height with spreading, angular red-brown branches. Flowers yellow, often reddish on the outside, up to 1 cm across, in May. Fruits coral-colored.
