Deciduous shrub with numerous shoots. Crown funnel-shaped, lateral branches lie on the ground and root readily. Height 1.5 - 3 m, width up to 4.5 m. Bark light greenish-yellow, especially attractive in winter.
Leaves opposite, from ovate to lanceolate, 5 - 9 cm long, light green. Flowers yellow-white in corymb-like clusters, in May. Fruits white, rounded, 9 mm in diameter.
Undemanding; tolerates all soils from slightly acidic to alkaline, prefers moist sites. Grows quickly. Frost-hardy and tolerant of urban conditions.
