Deciduous trees
Silver maple, many-lobed
saccharinum 'Wieri'
One of the most beautiful and picturesque solitary park trees, reaching 20 (-30) m in height and 12-20 m in width, with gracefully drooping long, slender branches. Leaves symmetrical, 8-14 cm wide, with five very graceful, long, narrow lobes, some of which are deeply cut into threadlike segments; shoots bronze-colored, then light green and glossy, underside silvery-white, turning yellow in autumn; leaves remain on the tree for a long time. Flowers green-yellow or red, in March, before the leaves unfold. Fruits with sickle-shaped winglets arranged almost horizontally. Strong winds are hazardous and, when soil lime content is too high, the tree is prone to chlorosis.
