China. A deciduous shrub growing very low to the ground, producing root suckers, only up to 30 cm in height; shoots gray-woolly and very dense, with projecting thin bristles 3-4 mm long. Leaves ovate, 6-10 cm in length, shortly pointed and unevenly serrate-toothed, upper side dark green, underside white-woolly; due to its rapid growth, especially suitable for landscaping large areas, slopes and for planting along roadsides, an ideal lawn substitute. Hardiness zone 6b.
