Deciduous trees
Norway maple
Platanoides L.
From Europe to the Caucasus. Reaching 20 (-30) m in height and 15-20 m in width in open areas, native, with a rounded dense crown, a tree for street and park plantings with non-peeling bark covered with longitudinal fissures and light-brown branches. Leaves opposite, up to 20 cm wide, with five to seven lobes, toothed, with milky sap; overwintering buds red or red-violet. Thanks to its deep roots and leaves that improve the soil, well suited for planting on wastelands, on slopes, high banks and in protective shelterbelts.
