Black maple

There are a number of cultivars of this maple, such as 'Goldsworth Purple', 'Crimson King' and others, which differ only slightly from one another. It appeared as a natural hybrid of А. рlat. 'Schwedleri' and А. plat. 'Reitenbachii'. Height 15 (-20) m. Shoots bright red, leaves invariably dark purple-brown, strongly glossy on the upper surface, red in autumn.
