Introduced for sale in 1903 by Drummond (Stirling, England). A slow-growing, medium-sized tree reaching 12 m in height and 7–9 m in width. The crown is broadly pyramidal and compact; in a mature tree it is almost rounded. Leaves are light pink when unfolding, later light green with a distinct white or yellowish-white margin. Prefers sunny or shaded sites with slightly acidic or alkaline, moist soil. A beautiful, striking park tree.
