USA; Ohio, 1947, a medium-sized tree, 12 (-15) m in height, up to 6 m in width; in youth with a spherical, later with an ovoid, compact crown, rarely a continuous central skeletal axis; leaves up to 25 cm wide, 3–5-lobed; shoots and shoot tips reddish, later light green in color; autumn foliage yellow-orange; yellowish-green clusters bloom as the leaves unfold; tolerates heat well, resistant to industrial air pollution and the urban climate, sensitive to waterlogging, acidic soils and soil compaction; used as a specimen tree and for street plantings.
