The most important representatives of this genus, which includes about 15 species, originate from North America and East Asia. These are deciduous self-climbing plants that cling by means of adhesive tendrils, with simple, most often lobed leaves that turn a magnificent color in autumn. The yellow-green flowers are inconspicuous. The fruits turn blue-black. It has few requirements regarding soil and site, but the location should not be too dry. It is excellent for greening the walls of houses. The plant is very popular because of its splendid autumn coloration, especially beautiful in bright sunlight.
