Soap tree

Occurs in China, Korea, Japan. In its native range the soap tree reaches 10 m; here it only reaches 6-8 m in height, a very conspicuous tree. Following the flowers, from July to August, the magnificent sparse yellow panicles up to 30 cm long produce a special effect when the tree stands against a dark background.
