Deciduous trees
Ash-leaved maple
negundo L.
North America. In the wild it grows on very moist soil, often a multi-stemmed tree with a broad crown and drooping branches, height 15 (-20) m. Leaves pinnate, autumn colour yellow. A magnificent, sturdy, light-loving and fast-growing tree, in youth resistant to industrial air pollution, which should be used as an avenue tree in sites sheltered from the wind; here it also grows well on dry soil. Grows best on slightly acidic soil. Flowers yellowish-white, in pendulous long racemes, from March to April before the leaves unfold.
