American sweetgum

Southeastern United States. 30–40 m tall and 6–12 m wide; light-loving, tolerant of industrial environmental pollution, very frost-hardy in old age; fast-growing and upright when young. Later the crown becomes umbrella-shaped. Branches are reddish-brown with corky ridges.
