Family: Betulaceae. Native from northeastern Asia to Japan. Here it reaches only 15 (-20) m in height and 8-10 m in width.
A tree that leafs out early, with a loose tall vaulted crown and very decorative peeling bark of pink or yellowish-white color and red-orange-brown branches.
Prefers sunny sites; however, it can grow on any cultivated soil. Highly recommended.
