Common horse-chestnut

Native to the Balkans, occurring from plains to mountains. 20 (-30) m in height and 15-20 (-25) m in width, fast-growing, frost-hardy, tolerates shade and provides shade, moisture-loving, a park tree. Flowers in May, in erect panicles 20-30 cm long; individual flowers 2 cm in diameter, white, with yellow-red speckling. Sensitive to excessive compaction of the surface soil layer, as well as to salinization!
