North Africa, grows in the Atlas Mountains at an altitude of 1000 m. Reaches 25 m in height, always a pyramidal tree with steeply rising branches. The blue Atlas cedar differs from the species by much denser branching and magnificent gray-blue needles; the intense color is especially noticeable when the foliage is developing. Cones are glossy brown, cylindrical with a flat tip, 5-7 cm long and up to 4 cm wide, very decorative. Prefers permeable, nutrient-rich, calcareous and sufficiently moist soil; smoke-tolerant and winter-hardy plant. An excellent specimen tree for lawns in parks and large gardens. Hardiness zone 7
