Deciduous shrubs
Deutzia
Deutzia Thunb.
Named after the Dutchman van der Deutz. A genus represented by about 50 species, mainly in China, Japan and the Himalayas. Deutzias – predominantly small to medium-sized shrubs with an astonishing abundance of flowers. Above all, they are suitable for boundary planting, mixed shrub borders and loose-growing hedges; they grow on any garden soil. But during the flowering period they require adequate moisture, otherwise they droop a little. For profuse flowering, frequent thinning and rejuvenation of old plants is necessary.
