Climbing plants
Round-leaved Spindle-tree, Tubular-leaved Red-pouch
Celastrus orbiculatus Thunb.
Japan, China. A fast-growing, very robust climber reaching up to 12 meters, an undemanding vine for sunny sites with green ovate leaves. The flowers are pale green and inconspicuous in June. All the more striking are the yellow fruits which, after splitting open, reveal red seeds. They ripen in September and persist until January. A very valuable decoration for vases. This climbing plant makes few demands on soil and site, and is well suited for adorning pergolas and covered alleys.
