North America. A tree 12–15 m in height and 6–10 m in width, with late-opening leaves, with a short trunk and a broad crown. Leaves opposite, most often in threes, whorled, very large and cordate, up to 20 cm long, green, autumn color light yellow; the leaves fall early.
