Deciduous trees
Red maple
capillipes Maxim.
Japan. A tree growing at a moderate rate to 6–9 m in height, with brown-green bark marked by unusual white striping and three-lobed, 6–10 cm long, acuminate leaves. The red veins of the leaves stand out particularly strongly. Branches and petioles. Flowers in drooping racemes, and fruits in clusters. Autumn coloration is bright red. An interesting hardy species for specimen planting in parks and gardens; deserves wider distribution, as it is very varied throughout the year. Leaves and buds are bright red. Recommended for sunny sites.
