Flowering shrubs

Buddleja

Buddleja L.

Back to catalogue

Few genera can produce such rapid and beautiful late-summer flowering within a single year as Buddleja. Moreover, they are undemanding, which makes them suitable, for example, for planting on slopes, but they prefer sunny, warm sites and need light winter protection of the soil. For young plants, with the exception of В. alternifolia, we recommend pruning down to 2-3 buds above the ground, as they can freeze back in severe winters. They then reshoot and flower on one-year-old wood. They are not demanding as to soil but do not tolerate waterlogging. All buddlejas are tolerant of industrial air pollution.
