Back to catalogue

Until 1856. Initially a creeping form, only its trunk is usually formed; habit robust, branches grow vertically downward; does not have special requirements for soil; prefers dry acidic or alkaline soil.

In May to early June it is covered with yellow flowers borne in clusters.

The plant prefers full light but tolerates light shade. Undemanding as to soil fertility, it tolerates soil compaction. Grows better on fresh sandy loam soils. Drought-tolerant, does not tolerate waterlogged locations. Winter-hardy.
