Central China, Yunnan, Hubei, Sichuan. A small tree (up to 15 m) with a beautiful green-and-white striped bark and ovate to oblong leaves, 8-15 cm long, always entire. Dark green glossy leaves turn yellow and red in autumn. In May, yellowish flowers appear in pendulous racemes, followed in autumn by green fruits, often with a reddish tinge. A beautiful park tree.
