Amphitheatre

In ancient Roman architecture, it was an entertainment structure with an elliptical plan. In the 17th–18th centuries they began to build them in parks as decorative structures for holding spectacles. In Baroque parks, the amphitheatre referred to the semicircular termination of the square opposite the palace.
