Rejuvenating a violet

Violet rosettes need to be rejuvenated every 2-3 years; during that time the rosette develops a bare stem. Rejuvenation is done by cutting off the top part of the rosette (the crown) and re-rooting it in water. During rejuvenation new roots form fairly quickly. The simplest way to tidy up a violet is to plant it deeper, meanwhile scraping the bare stem with the blunt side of a knife.
